The clinician for this year’s festival will be Dr. Miles Wurster from Martin Luther College. The percussion clinician will be Mr. Wes Schmandt from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.

DR. MILES WURSTER
CLINICIAN
Professor Miles Wurster has served as Director of Instrumental Music at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN since 2006. At MLC he conducts the MLC Wind Symphony, coordinates ensembles, and teaches courses in conducting, music education, instrumental techniques, and applied instrument lessons. A research interest of Prof. Wurster’s is the historic role of the wind band in the church. Prof. Wurster earned a Doctor of Arts degree at Ball State University in Wind Band Conducting and Music Education and was a conducting student of Thomas Caneva. While at Ball State, Prof. Wurster had the privilege to perform with and conduct the BSU Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble.

MR. WES SCHMANDT
PERCUSSION CLINICIAN
Wes Schmandt teaches percussion and German at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High school in Jackson, WI. He also maintains a private studio and serves as coach for the Lutheran Vanguard DrumLine. At KML he is the director of the high school and Elementary schools percussion ensembles. Mr. Schmandt keeps active in performance as a member of the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band. He has served as clinician for the WELS Band Festivals since 1992.
Mr. Schmandt lives in West Bend, WI with his wife, Sarah and three children, Michaya, Dylan and Bryson.
